Welcome to Chapter 18 of Journey through the Scriptures. In this chapter, we are journeying into the Millennial Reign of Christ. As we explore Revelation 20, we will uncover the remarkable truths surrounding the thousand-year reign of our Lord Jesus Christ. This period marks a time of extraordinary restoration, the defeat of evil, and the manifestation of God’s glorious blessings upon creation. Let us delve into this topic with open hearts and minds, seeking a deeper understanding of God’s plans and purposes.
Revelation 20 provides a glimpse into the remarkable era when Christ reigns upon the earth for a thousand years. This reign follows the defeat of Satan, who is bound during this time, preventing him from deceiving the nations. The apostle John witnessed this vision and describes the scene in Revelation 20:4: “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”
During the Millennial Reign, we can anticipate the restoration of creation and the defeat of evil. The effects of sin and the curse will be greatly diminished, and righteousness and justice will prevail. Isaiah 11:6-9 provides a beautiful depiction of this time: “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them… They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.”
The Millennial Reign brings forth abundant blessings for the righteous. The Lord’s reign will be characterized by peace, joy, and divine provision. The apostle Paul encourages us with these words in 1 Corinthians 2:9: “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” During this glorious era, believers will experience the fulfillment of God’s promises and enjoy the blessings of His kingdom in a way we cannot fully comprehend in our present mortal state.
While we think about the wonders of the Millennial Reign, let us anticipate the restoration of creation, the defeat of evil, and the abundance of blessings that await the righteous. In our next chapter, Chapter 19, we will explore the profound truths surrounding the Final Judgment—a time when all will give an account before the Great White Throne. Join me as we seek a deeper understanding of God’s justice and mercy, and the ultimate fate of the unsaved and the righteous. May the Holy Ghost continue to guide us in our journey of understanding God’s Word.
