Submission to God’s Will
Our burden to pray with someone needs to be submitted to the will of God before we act upon it.
Nadab and Abihu
As we see in Leviticus 10:1-3, Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, offered strange fire before the Lord, which He commanded them not to do. As a result, fire came from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. Aaron, their father, held his peace, even though he lost his two sons, because he was in submission to the authority of God.
Moses and Aaron
Similarly, in Numbers 16:3, we see that some people gathered against Moses and Aaron, saying that they take too much upon themselves. However, Moses fell upon his face before the Lord, and they offended God, not just Moses. Hence, it’s important to be submitted to the Holy Ghost, God’s authority in our lives.
Following God’s Lead
In Numbers 16:5-7, we see Moses speak to Korah and all his company, telling them that the Lord will show who are His and who is holy. They were to put fire in their censers and incense before the Lord, and the man whom the Lord chose would be holy. It is important that we follow God’s lead, submitting our fire to His will.
Trust in the Lord
Isaiah 50:10-11 tells us to trust in the Lord, and not to kindle our own fire, which will lead us to sorrow. The fire in us, which may seem like passion, needs to be submitted to the will of God to bring forth His miraculous works. As Elijah the prophet did in 1 Kings 18:36-38, we need to say, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word,” before the fire of the Lord falls.
Importance of Submission
It is vitally important that we come submitted to God, submitted to our pastor, boss, and any authority that God has placed in our lives. When we are obedient to the will of God and in submission to spiritual authority, we will see the miraculous works of God. Let us pray that we will have a heart of submission and obedience, that we may be used by God to bring forth His glory.
