Taking Sauces to a Disappointing Level

This past week I was able to go by Subway and try out a couple of the Fiery Footlong Collection sandwiches Subway has in lue of the new Hunger Games movie Catching Fire.

Sriracha Steak Melt

The first I tried was the Sriracha Steak Melt. I ordered it, compairable to the picture on the menu. I do this to try and get the taste Subway anticipates the sandwich to taste like. Otherwise there wouldn’t be pictures.

I didn’t expect the sauce to be so hot. It was a new level of hot for Subway. The sauce completely overtook the taste of the other ingredients to where all I could taste was the sauce. I wasn’t very pleased with how hot this sauce was.

Sriracha Chicken Melt

The last sandwich I tried was the Sriracha Chicken Melt. I again ordered it, compairable to the picture on the menu. I couldn’t finish it. Whither the sauce was too fresh there was too much put on the sandwich I didn’t know, couldn’t tell, and didn’t care at that point.

I hate wasting food but I couldn’t finish the Sriracha Chicken Melt! The sauce again completely overran any seasoning of the chicken and bread. I ate just about half of the footlong and had to throw it away after the sauce blistered my mouth.

If you like spicy food but just not quite that spicy, I do not recommend these sandwiches. But if you are looking for an overwhelming “bold” and spicy experience they might be just for you.

If you do try them, please put your comments in the space below. I would like to hear your feedback.
