As you push forward in your study of God’s Word, let us pause and reflect on the lessons we have learned from the conquest of Canaan under the leadership of Joshua. Just as the Israelites faced the daunting task of entering and possessing the Promised Land, we too encounter challenges and decisions in our own lives. In this moment, we are reminded of the importance of seeking God’s guidance.
Joshua, a faithful servant of God, exemplified the posture of seeking divine direction. In Joshua 1:9, the Lord encourages him saying, “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” We are reminded of the assurance that God goes before us, guiding our steps and providing strength and courage.
In our own lives, we must recognize the significance of seeking God’s guidance. In Proverbs 3:5-6, we read, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Let us surrender our plans, desires, and ambitions to the Lord, acknowledging His wisdom and authority. As we do so, we open ourselves to His divine leading and experience the fulfillment of His perfect will.
Seeking God’s guidance requires humility, patience, and a willingness to surrender our own desires. It is a journey of faith, as we trust that His plans are greater than our own. As we face decisions, big or small, let us approach them with an open heart, seeking His wisdom through prayer, fasting, and the study of His Word. In doing so, we invite the Holy Ghost to guide us, aligning our steps with God’s purpose for our lives.
